Gibson gets it! 13 Teaching youngsters to have a positive attitude about health care starts early. Getting to know the local hospital as a kid-friendly place is a great beginning! Gibson Area Hospital school tours—a tradition now for many area preschool and elementary school students— provide the opportunity for more than 600 kids annually to experience the hospital as a safe and friendly environment that promotes healing, learning and nurturing. Get the royal, extraordinary treatment at Onarga Clinic Doug Lanoue, MD, and his staff at the Onarga clinic have saved the day! Pediatric patients now have their choice of special exam rooms at the Onarga Clinic, thanks to Dr. Lanoue, his staff and some community members. The recently decorated princess-themed room features a sculpted metal castle— the handiwork of Maegan Ashline of Justin Nichols Paint & Fab in Watseka— and princesses painted on the walls, courtesy of Jayde Young, the niece of Onarga Clinic staff member Carrie Brazel. The princess-themed room also provides tiaras for little visitors. The superhero-themed room features Dr. Lanoue’s own personal touches—pieces of comic character memorabilia from his own collection. The superhero-themed room’s decor is designed to help fight the fears of the clinic’s pint-sized patients. Keep your focus on what’s in front of and around you. Stop walking and move to a safe place—to check your phone, text or take calls. Skip the earbuds or turn down the volume to hear what’s going on around you.
