GibsonHospital.org 10 Elite Sport & Fitness designs a workout just for you The grand opening of Gibson Area Hospital’s (GAH) Elite Sport & Fitness at its new location, 615 N. Railroad Ave. in Paxton, was greeted by enthusiasm and excitement from the community on Feb. 15. For those familiar with the building’s history, the transformation of the old Sorenson building into a performance training and fitness center brought a thrilling sense of community “can-do” pride. Support from the First National Bank in Paxton and the cooperation of building owners Jeffrey and Justin Goss helped make the transformation happen. Elite Sport & Fitness specializes in personal training to help clients reach specific goals, with carefully designed workouts tailored to fit their needs. When designing the workouts, trainers consider a client’s age, ability and current physical condition to ensure an optimal workout experience. Christopher Johnson, ATC, CSCS, YFS Athletic Trainer and Personal Trainer Christopher Johnson, born and raised in Paxton, earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from the University of Illinois and has been working at GAH for five years. He is also the athletic trainer for Paxton-Buckley- Loda High School. While in college, he worked with the men’s and women’s tennis teams and traveled with the men’s football and basketball teams. He has been able to work directly with Division I athletes and travel to numerous Big Ten schools. Fun fact: Johnson is the reigning adult Easter Egg hunt champion for the city of Champaign!
