Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services | Gibson gets it! | Spring/Summer 2020

Gibson gets it! 7 For Cathy Rosen, a native of Chicago’s North Shore, her move south meant building a new network of healthcare providers. Now she’s moving well and enjoying lakeshore living, in Loda, again! M y journey to total knee replacement started out many years ago while I lived in the North Shore suburbs of Chicago. I had access to excellent surgeons, doctors and hospitals and began making plans for knee replacement surgery. In 2015 I retired and moved to central Illinois. At that time, I still planned to go back to my doctors and continue my care up north. Then I learned about Gibson Area Hospital Orthopaedics and Dr. Jason Ye in particular. I met several neighbors and friends who had either worked with Dr. Ye or knew someone who had. Every one of them shared their experiences and highly recommended him. I decided to do some research and investigate this as an option for me. Outstanding, personalized care I selected a primary care physician at The Paxton Clinic and through them made an appointment with Dr. Ye’s office. I started working with Erin Miller, PA-C, and she offered several options that I had not tried before, including gel injections to provide relief from the bone-on-bone pain I was experiencing and hydrotherapy. These provided me with several months of pain relief. I was pleased with the results, but I also knew that a knee replacement was in my future. Because I had received physical therapy, I was eligible for a free 30-day membership at the Paxton Community & Wellness Center. I met with the trainer, Tracy Stroyan- Maynard, and she worked with me to develop a program to prepare me for my surgery. After six months, I was stronger, more flexible and ready to schedule my surgery with Dr. Ye for early January. The surgery went great! I have no knee joint pain and am winding down my physical therapy. I believe the reason for my success is due to the outstanding, personalized care I received from my team—my physician, surgeon, nurses, trainer and physical therapists all provided me with excellent care and support throughout this entire journey. I am so grateful that I chose Gibson Area Hospital as my go-to for all my healthcare needs! No more knee pain From pain relief options and guided exercise to a successful surgery, the GAH ortho team was all in Get to know your orthopaedic options at Gibson Area Hospital.
