Quietly helping others, she provides an example to others in her way of selflessly giving back and paying it forward. Always resourceful and cheerful, Row has found balance in providing exceptional patient care, raising a family and volunteering in the community. Her co-workers appreciate her experience, skills, efficiency and attitude—all of which make her a fantastic teammate and a “nurses’ nurse,” as described by Jo Ann Jay, RN, BSN, Interim Executive Director of Nursing and Emergency Department Director. *Row’s full credentials are RN, BSN, TNS, ECRN, CEN and CPEN. T hanks to the vision of the James Hager family, exceptional patient care is recognized each spring at the annual hospital meeting. Nominated by their peers, the winners of the James A. Hager Award of Excellence demonstrate unique qualities in their direct patient care, which reflect James Hager’s passion for excellence, a culture he established during his tenure on the hospital board. This year, three nurses join the prestigious group of previous winners. They each receive $1,000, along with a trophy and their name inscribed on the James A. Hager Award of Excellence plaque on display in the hospital. MICHELLE KAHLE, RN, Preoperative Care ‘I love this hospital’ Kahle was recognized for her sincere warmth and ability to put patients at ease by treating them like family. Her special manner of care helps to create an environment that supports a positive experience, and patients often comment on her caring attitude and kind demeanor—not only within the walls of the hospital but also in the community. With a compassionate approach, Kahle is able to blend both the sensitive needs of her patients and her commitment to the hospital’s vision to be THE model of excellence in community-based health care. Expressing her joy when receiving the award, Kahle said, “I love this hospital and the people I work with. I’m so lucky to be part of this community.” AMANDA PARRISH, BSN, RN, Medical & Surgical Department A fearless leader Parrish was nominated for possessing the characteristics of a natural leader, with a take- charge personality and a fearless approach to problem solving. Able to proactively identify and resolve issues clearly and concisely, she effectively trains nursing staff and supports troubleshooting in the clinics. Working well with other departments to partner in patient care, Parrish’s sharp focus on patient care and ambitious commitment to improving processes are complemented by her dynamic energy and the attitude she exudes as a nurse. Parrish, who started her career at Gibson as a certified nursing assistant nine years ago, commented with enthusiasm about the honor: “I love working here and seeing all of the growth within the hospital and staff.” honored for excellence Three nurses
