GibsonHospital.org 4 Dancing with the stars Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services was well-represented at “Dancing with the GCMS Stars!”—a fundraiser for the Gibson City Melvin Sibley (GCMS) High School dance team. GAHHS CEO Rob Schmitt and Sydney Funk delivered a crowd-thriller to a medley of Michael Jackson songs. Orthopaedic surgeon Joseph Norris, MD, danced with Samantha Groover to a mash-up of 80s and 90s hits—a performance that earned them the People’s Choice Award! Friends, family and hospital staff helped cheer on the dance couples in the friendly competition. Become a Safe Sitter ® this summer! Sign your young teen up to become a Safe Sitter this summer! Designed for students in grades 6 through 8, the one-day Safe Sitter curriculum covers safety skills, child care skills, first aid and rescue skills, and life and business skills. Courses will be led by Gibson Area Hospital’s own Safe Sitter teacher Tanya Windle on the following Fridays: June 14, July 12 and Aug. 2. GAH welcomes first baby of 2019 Gibson Area Hospital Baby Central welcomed Harper Ann Hills as the first baby of 2019. Harper Ann arrived Jan. 7 at 2:20 p.m., weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. She was welcomed into the world by her parents, Jaymee Smith and Danny Hills, from Hoopeston, and joins two siblings at home. Harper Ann was delivered by Doug Lanoue, MD. Jaymee expressed her gratitude to the nurses at Baby Central who provided support and personal attention, commenting that they were very helpful during her labor. The family was presented with a gift basket filled with baby items donated by the Gibson Area Hospital (GAH) obstetrics department—a baby robe, outfits, slippers and gowns; receiving blankets; a rattle and teething toys; a teddy bear; a travel bath set; a board book; and other items for the family that were specially chosen from the GAH Auxiliary Gift Shop. They also received $100 in Gibson Bucks from GAH administration. Gibson news
