GibsonHospital.org 22 GAH Auxiliary awards nine scholarships at this year’s Spring Banquet The Gibson Area Hospital (GAH) Auxiliary held their annual Spring Banquet on Monday, April 24, at the First Presbyterian Church in Gibson City. During this banquet, the GAH Auxiliary awarded nine scholarships to students pursuing careers in health care. Two Verna Buck scholarships were awarded to Gabrielle Carter, of Hoopeston, and Taylor Bauer, of Cissna Park. Gabrielle, daughter of Wayne and Emily Carter, is currently attending Lakeview College of Nursing and plans to pursue a master of science in nursing (MSN). Taylor, the son of Dan and Jackie Bauer, is seeking a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) with a goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. The CEDF Scholarship was presented to Brian Swanson, of Gibson City. He is studying nursing at Parkland College and is working to become a certified diabetes educator. This year’s two Auxiliary scholarships were awarded to Sierra Mowrey and Elizabeth Haas, both of Fairbury. Sierra attends SIU, Edwardsville, and is pursuing a BSN to become a nurse. Elizabeth, daughter of Jerrold and Sally Haas, is attending Heartland Community College to study nursing. The William and Viola Garrett Scholarship was given to Jessalyn Davis. Jessaly n, daughter of Scott and Lesley Davis of Gibson City, is att ending Harding University and studying physical therapy. The Dr. Christine Medrano/Verna Buck Scholarship was awarded to Ellen Day, of Normal. Ellen, daughter of Ted and Tina Day, is attending Heartland Community College to study radiology, ultimately to become a sonographer. The Arthur and Ane Jensen Noland Scholarship was given to Sydney Vetter. Sydney, daughter of Stanley and Suzanne Vetter, of Sibley, is a student at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The Gift Shop Scholarship was given to Taylor Hasselbring of Cissna Park. Taylor, daughter of Troy and Lynn Hasselbring, attends Parkland College and is studying to become an x-ray technician.
